Roof and Render

Location: Great Harwood Lancashire and Huncoat, Lancashire

Mitchell's Scaffolding are currently working on 2 local sites in the Great Harwood  and Huncoat areas for roof repair and in some cases replacement chimney repair and or removal and render works.

This rolling contract sees an average of 10 fully occupied properties erected at any one time, as the repair works are completed the scaffold is removed and moved to the next house.

This work will see a large number of houses and bungalows finalize the external works as part of the local Authority renewal program.

The scaffolds are to be full roofline access   of 2, 3 and 4 elevations depending on property type. Rendered property’s with gables will require  2 working lifts with table lifts to allow for render works access. On the none rendered property’s double handrail edge protection is to be in place to the gable elevations protecting the roof workers from falls.

These particular sites also call for the addition of double toe-boards for added debris protection for the duration and the installation of gantry’s ranging fro 2m to 5m runs, bumper access and gated ladder access .

As with all works on external property repair weather is always a contributing factor ; excessive wind can present a danger to both the scaffold operatives and the main contractors slowing down and even halting the works. High winds have the potential to uplift scaffold boards; in order to prevent this Mitchell's ensure that all working lifts have the platforms and toe-boards clamped in place, while working in windy weather all operatives work as a team with 2 men handling the longer components to ensure their safety at all times.
